Inspiring Face-Lift
It's always exciting when you get the opportunity to give a house a complete face lift with a full renovation. It provides for a rebirth of a house and these projects are very close to my heart as it allows me to use my talent and skill to merge my ideas with a client's vision from the inception to completion.
The home was originally a 90's style Tuscan design, it was transformed into a modern 20th Century home by creating bigger interior spaces and changing the 'flow' of the house; with these open spaces which are defined by a design feature that makes each one unique, I achieved a new take on an old design.
There are numerous bold and refined design and style elements which are apparent where I used a small diagonal herringbone marble tiling on the kitchen walls and then a large herringbone with three different colour tiles on the main bathroom floor as well as the checkerboard tiling on the outside patio and the front door.
There are some unique modern design elements like the oversized waterfall island in the kitchen, the large black & copper lights above the bar area, the furniture which I had matte black sprayed and 3 large coq round mirrors, as well as a host of features from the floating wall units and the layout of the lounge area. Further interest is created with a patterned black and white tile around the bar area, a mirrored bathroom aluminium door and brick tiles at the front door. Whilst there are too many elements to mention, the end product is a modern house mixed with classical elements that still remains a family home.
